Make no mistake though, the songs contained within these titles are well crafted, melodic, instantly catchy noise pop, with structures that veer a little from the norm.ĮLLIE MAKES MUSIC – I Pray Įllie Makes Music, a 20 year old singer-songwriter from Cardiff, writes songs that are stories from the frontline of teenage life and has been described as sounding like a “Welsh Taylor Swift” or “Laura Marling’s younger sister”. With song titles such as Elvis Costello is a wanker and Desk From The Waist Down it’s safe to say SDOS don’t take themselves too seriously. Alec Splatt (Bass/Voice), Robot Alien (Guitar/Voice) and Timble D (Drums) have just released their debut E.P Total Reek Hole. After asking J Robbins if it was OK to use the name and having the D.C demigod gladly bequeath, it is now a band of three men from the north of England who play catchy/shouty/indie/punk and drink too much. Sweet Deals On Surgery was a song by Burning Airlines and before that a song by Kerosene 454. Their new project Embrace The Sun is a mix of traditionalist rhyme acrobatics and thoughtful knowledge-dropping sure to get any hip hop head nodding. Sifu Hotman is sharp, uptempo hip hop from MCs Guante (two-time National Poetry Slam champion) & deM atlaS (newest signee to Rhymesayers Entertainment) and producer Rube. It is both strident and intimate, reflecting the intrinsic connection between human forces and natural forces. Recorded with David Wrench (Bat For Lashes, Caribou) and Jimmy Robertson (Anna Calvi) in Snowdonia, Ancient Blue is impassioned, intense and bolder than its predecessor. Twelve months of writing and evolving followed, and the band resurfaced from their creative retreat with second album, Ancient Blue. Pairing these organic influences with modern instrumentation, debut album Star Map, released in 2012, was constructed from electronic beats, synths and processed effects alongside guitars, pianos and strings. Hailing from the foothills of mountainous north Wales, Golden Fable compose their music within its abundant, richly varied landscape. Golden Fable are Rebecca Palin, Tim McIver and Jack McCarthy.
